Contractual Conditions: I/We, the undersigned, acknowledge we can withdraw from this contract, according to conditions stated in SJSH’s Withdrawal/Refund/Reduction of Obligation Policy and SJSH’s Notice of Withdrawal Policy. Fees and services additional to the total amount owed will be billed separately. Prior to the release of all reports; credits; or promotions, any balance owing of the total fees must be paid in full. At SJSH, all credits, marks, promotions are earned only after balance owing is paid in full. As of the first day of classes, all children must be immunized (or exemption filed) and all dates of birth must be documented. Method of payment has no bearing on SJSH’s Withdrawal/Refund/Reduction of Obligation Policy.
Educational Calendar: SJSH’s school year has three semesters: Fall (September to December); Winter (January to April); and Spring (May and June). Each new school year begins on the day after Labour Day and continues for 10 consecutive months ending on or before June 30th of the next year. Instruction is 5 days per week, during announced times, excluding: weekends; statutory holidays; December Break, April Break and July/August HeadStart School; Easter Monday and any other day(s) as announced from time to time. No refund is provided for any Break or absenteeism at SJSH. July/August HeadStart is separate registration and tuition.
Educational Services: In compliance with the Ministry of Education’s Private Schools Policy and Procedures of 09.2013, SJSH provides day-schooling education and related services at the decision and discretion of SJSH without any guarantee. Students are registered in Scholars’ Hall or in St. Jude’s School. If as a result of SHSH’s initial or continual evaluation, it may be determined that a student requires, in addition to regular tuition instruction, accommodation of services; time; expectations; adjustments; involvements, considerations; timetabling or scheduling for which additional fees will apply. Registration in SJSH is from Start Date to End Date not by number of credits taken or earned. At no time can or does SJSH offer any guarantee or assurance of a student’s success.
Accommodations: A child registered as a Scholars’ Hall student must be achieving, in Scholars’ classes, at or above grade level without any modifications. SJSH may provide a Scholars’ Hall student in-class or in-school accommodations, for additional fees, as long as the child continues to achieve at or above grade level. A child registered as a St. Jude’s School’s student is a child who needs to attend a St. Jude’s class/classes or who needs accommodations and/or modifications in the Scholars’ Hall classes. SJSH may provide a St. Jude’s School student, for additional fees, in-school accommodations, as required. SJSH may also place a St. Jude’s School student, in a Scholars’ Hall class/classes, with in-class accommodations, for additional fees.
Administrative Involvement: These additional services, unless included in tuition, will be billed separately on an as occurred basis. 1) Administrative Time – printing; copying; letter writing; report card/transcript reproduction; extra phone/email communications; extra student and/or parent meetings. 2) Administrative Support – Code of Behaviour compliant but needing: time out; meeting; assisting; listening; talking; advising; calming; understanding; direction; and/or rest; opportunity for personal reflection and comfort.
Administrative Intervention – Non Code of Behaviour: office trip; aggressive, disruptive, disrespectful, behaviour requiring discipline, de-escalation; or unable to maintain instructional control; or requiring the teaching of alternative behaviors; or implementation of behavioural strategies; or preparation for classroom re-entry; or social strategies; or facilitating understanding; or creating behavioural change; or providing extra supervision; or assisting with anxiety, or special and/or sensitive issues. These additional services are not included in any tuition and will be billed separately on an as occurred basis. Behaviour requiring administrative intervention is not part of SJSH’s mandate and could result in withdrawal of services.
Grade 11 and 12 Mathematics and English Credit Policy: To protect and preserve SJSH’s future graduates’ universities acceptance opportunities, SJSH students must take all their Grade 11 and 12 Math and English Credits in a regularly timetabled SJSH class. Any Grade 11 or 12 Math or English Credits taken outside of SJSH while registered or during a summer between SJSH school years, without SJSH’s prior written consent, will not be recognized for purposes of graduation by SJSH.
Operational Policies and Procedures: SJSH’s policy/procedures manual, available at the main office, includes SJSH’s Weather Policy; the SJSH’s Closure Policy; and SJSH’s winter, Salt-Free Policy. This manual and all other policies/procedures, i.e., Code of Behaviour, are an integral part of this registration contract. Familiarization with these policies and procedures is the responsibility of the undersigned.
Enrollment Policy: SJSH will not hold a place without a signed registration, a PAD agreement and the receipt of the required deposit.
Notice of Withdrawal Policy:
Notice of withdrawal must be provided in writing. Receipt of written notice (letter or e-mail), is as of the date which the Director or Principal of SJSH personally receives the notice, not the date the letter was posted or the date the e-mail was sent. Date of Notice of Withdrawal or post mark date or date of delivery to a person other than the Director, does not constitute receipt of written notice by the Director/Principal. At no time will a telephone message or phone call, fax and/or any verbal communication, with the Director, Principal or any other person, be accepted or acknowledged as written notice and/or constitute receipt of written notice. Non- attendance without receipt of Notice of Withdrawal will be recorded as absenteeism.
As of the registration date, a deposit of $2,000 is due, payable and totally non-refundable. Registration is not complete until 1) a signed registration, 2) a completed PAD agreement or post-dated cheques and 3) the required deposit are received.
Tuition payments must commence as of July 1 2023 and may extend for up to 10 consecutive months.
Method of payment has no bearing on SJSH’s Withdrawal/Refund/Reduction of Obligation Policy or any other condition contained herein.
Withdrawal / Refund / Reduction of Obligation Policy
As of March 1st, 2023 in addition to the initial deposit at registration, 25% of the total tuition is due, payable
and totally non-refundable. Receipt of written notice of withdrawal may be provided, on or after March 1 and prior to May 1, 2023 with the knowledge, understanding and agreement of this aforementioned condition of registration.
Upon notice of withdrawal any balance of the amount owed to the school will be immediately due and payable and
will be subject to twice the prevailing monthly bank interest rate. Any balance owed to the parents will be repaid,
without interest, on September 30, 2023
As of June 1st, 2023 in addition to the initial deposit at registration, 50% of the total tuition is due, payable and totally non-refundable. Receipt of written notice of withdrawal may be provided, on or after March 1 and prior to
June 1, 2023 with the knowledge, understanding and agreement of this aforementioned condition of registration.
Upon notice of withdrawal any balance of the amount owed to the school will be immediately due and payable and
will be subject to twice the prevailing monthly bank interest rate. Any balance owed to the parents will be repaid,
without interest, on December 30, 2023
As of September 1st, 2023 in addition to the initial deposit at registration, 75% of the total tuition is due, payable
and totally non-refundable. Receipt of written notice of withdrawal may be provided, on or after June 1 and prior
to September 1, 2023 with the knowledge, understanding and agreement of this aforementioned condition of
registration. Upon notice of withdrawal any balance of the amount owed to the school will be immediately due and
payable and will be subject to twice the prevailing monthly bank interest rate. Any balance owed to the parents will
be repaid, without interest, on June 30, 2024
As of December 1st, 2023 100% of the total tuition (including any unpaid balance) is due, payable and totally non-refundable. As of each date herein this Policy, no refund of any amount or no reduction of any unpaid balance/
obligation will be granted for any reason, including but not limited to absenteeism, illness, suspension, withdrawal,
expulsion, any reduction of instructional time, implementation of any instructional alternatives, instructional
disruption or school closure. SJSH reserves the right to expel a student, without prior notice, at any time, or for any
reason(s) stated or implied in SJSH’s Student Standards of Good Conduct/Teachability, SJSH’s Student Order/
Discipline Policy or SJSH’s Code of Behaviour.
Summary of Withdrawal/Refund/Reduction of Obligation Policy
- as of Registration Date the initial deposit of $2,000 is due, payable and totally non-refundable.
- as of March 1, 2023, in additional to the initial deposit at registration, 25% of the total tuition is due, payable and totally non-refundable;
- as of June 1, 2023, in additional to the initial deposit at registration, 50% of the total tuition is due, payable and totally non-refundable;
- as of September1, 2023, in additional to the initial deposit at registration, 75% of the total tuition is due, payable and totally non-refundable;
- as of December 1, 2023, 100% of the total tuition (including any balance owed) is due, payable and totally non-refundable;
Method of Payment has no bearing on SJSH’s Withdrawal/Refund/Reduction of Obligation Policy or any other condition contained herein. Payment(s) can be made in full at time of registration or by Automatic Bank Withdrawal or by post-dated cheques provided at time of registration or by Automatic Credit Card or by Automatic Debit Card payment.
Withdrawal Authorization
I, the undersigned, (if a legal person, herein represented by its duly authorized representative(s)), authorize the Payee to make pre-authorized debits (PAD) from my account with the aforementioned financial institution, at the following interval: monthly, starting on the 1st day of July, 2023 and ending on the 1st day of April 2024
- Each withdrawal will correspond to the total tuition plus any additional fees less the $2,000 deposit divided by 10 payments (amount listed above under “monthly payment amount”).
Change or cancellation:
I shall inform the Payee, in a timely manner, of any changes to this Agreement.
I retain the right to revoke my authorization at any time, with a pre-notification of not less than 30 calendar days. To obtain a sample of the cancellation form or for more information on my right to cancel PAD Agreement, I may contact my financial institution or visit the Canadian Payments Association website at www.cdnpay.ca. I agree to release the financial institution of any liability if the revocation is not respected, except in the case of gross negligence on its part.
I agree that the financial institution at which I maintain the account is not required to verify that the payment is debited in accordance with this authorization. I also certify that every person whose signature is required for the operation of the aforementioned account has signed this authorization.
I acknowledge that the delivery of this authorization to the Payee constitutes delivery by me to the aforementioned financial institution.
Reimbursement
I have certain rights of recourse if a debit does not comply with the terms of this Agreement. For example, I have the right to receive reimbursement for any PAD this is not authorized or that is not compatible with the terms of this PAD Agreement. For more information on my rights of recourse, I may contact my financial institution or visit www.cdnpay.ca.
The financial institution shall reimburse me, on behalf of the organization, for any amounts withdrawn in error, within 90 calendar days or the withdrawal for a Personal PAD within 10 business days for a Business PAD, provided that the reimbursement is claimed for a valid reason.
I understand that a claim to this effect must be made to my financial institution following the procedure it will provide for that purpose.
Finally, I acknowledge that a claim for reimbursement filed after the aforementioned time limits must be settled between me and Payee, without any liability or commitment on the part of my financial institution.
